A gorgeous, convertible 1946 Alfa Romeo owned by David Grainger, took all three top prize at this weekend's Cobble Beach Concours D'Elegance.

"I found it as a pile of scrap in a collection in Japan," said Grainger, who restored the car at his restoration facility with his staff. Grainger said winning Best of Show, People’s Choice and Best of Class came as a complete shock to him.

Grainger owns the Guild of Automotive Restorers in Bradford Ontario.

This weekends car show was the fifth installment of the Cobble Beach Concours D'Elegance. In that short time it has become known as Canada's most prestigious car show, and attracts over six thousand spectators to a golf course which serves as the event's venue on the shores of Georgian Bay near Kingston.

Social media has been buzzing all weekend with car enthusiasts raving about the event. Some of the posts were as follows:

Marilyn Wright Dodd:

"Amazing cars at an awesome venue. If you have never been to this car show or Owen Sound, in the fall, put it on your "fall drive adventures" for next year."

Judy Heely:

"Saw cars from Quebec, BC Michigan and Kentucky and of course ON. Loved the old Rolls Royces. The view of Owen Sound Bay and Georgian Bay were fabulous as well. General admission is $40 each but we received free passes to compensate for the added traffic on Grey Road 1 !"

The car show brought in spectators and cars from across Canada and the United States. Of course only selected cars were shown and the vehicles were all required to meet certain criteria and standards. A team of judges inspected the cars over the course of the main show day, looking at every part from bumper to bumper, checking for quality or workmanship on the restored vehicles, as well as originality.

The weather was a big factor in attracting a large crowd over the weekend according to organizers. The Cobble Beach Event raises funds the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
