THE "STANLEY CUP" OF CAR SHOWS SET FOR THIS WEEKEND AT COBBLE BEACH ONTARIO
Canada's most prestigious car show is expected to attract thousands of car enthusiasts this weekend from across Canada and the United States.
The Cobble Beach Concours D'Elegance has become one of the most important automotive events in the country. There will be 19 judged classes, with vehicles dating back all the way to the early 1900's. Some of the best cars in North America from five Provinces and 13 States will be shown.
A Concours event is by its very nature a premier automotive happening. These events feature mainly true "classic cars", that have been expertly restored. The event is a competition but it is also a social event, and for the Cobble Beach Community and the area of Owen Sound Ontario it has become important in terms of the area's reputation and also as an economic catalyst.

Among those booked for the event is Vernon Smith from Swift Current, NL, who has made the trip to Ontario for three straight years. It's a 3000 km journey but he says it's worth it. “In my opinion, this event has gained momentum and it can rub shoulders with all the USA Concours,” said Mr. Smith when asked why he attends the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
CANADIAN COASTERS CAR TOUR WILL STOP AT COBBLE BEACH THIS WEEKEND
The Canadian Coasters, will be represented too. They're a group of automotive enthusiasts who have spent the summer driving from Victoria, BC to St. John’s, NL to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. Six of the Coasters will be stopping to show their vehicles at the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance on their trip home. The Coasters were featured on the SST Car Show this summer during stops in Ontario while they were still heading east.
Another Canadian classic car lover, Howard Anderson is already on his way to Ontario from Calgary, AB with his 1932 Pierce Arrow Series 54 Convertible Coupe. The event is international in scope and vehicles from all over the United States will be shown, including cars from California, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.
Dan Bishop will be travelling the furthest of all. He's on his way with his prized 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS5 from Redlands, CA. For Mr. Bishop it's a trek that will span 4000 kilometers.
An expert team of judges will preside over the show. They are all automotive experts and have been selected from 9 provinces, and 14 states. The Cobble beach event has earned a reputation as the premier classic automotive event in Canada. It is open to the public and is expected to attract thousands of spectators.
