Buick LaCrosse
Car Review
The new Buick Lacrosse is an upscale car that offers up true value. This is a car that is saturated in features, making it a luxury ride at a reasonable price. This is a car that offers up real curb appeal. It has nice modern lines. It's a little bit understated which will appeal to more mature buyers but it is not old fashioned.
Under the hood our test vehicle was equipped with an all-new 3.6L V6 engine with 8-speed automatic transmission. You have 310 horsepower here. It's smooth refined power too. It's got power and when you really stomp on it, it does pick up and it sounds good, sounds mean and it handles. There is also a 5-link rear suspension for improved handling, and our test vehicle came with the optional All-Wheel Drive with Active Twin Clutch feature. It enhances handling and providing a better connection between the driver and the road.
For us the big story is on the inside. This car is incredibly quiet. It's equipped with active noise cancellation. There is plenty of sound proofing, but the active noise cancellation system, detects annoying sound frequencies and uses the speakers from the stereo system to cancel them out.
Inside it's a luxurious car. The leather that they're using on the steering wheel, on the centre console, on the seats. It's soft, it's supple. The stitching is world class. It's a finely crafted interior.
This is a car that is offered with a wide range of options. You can buy a basic version and still feel like you're buying a luxury car, or you can load it up. Our test car came with a heads-up-display which projects your speed and other information onto the windshield so you get the information you need without having to take your eyes off the road.
The LaCrosse also delivers with advanced technology. Built in 4G, Wi-Fi hotspot is available, and the Buick Intellilink system provides smart phone, connectivity, radio controls, GPS, and more, and you can control it with voice commands. The LaCrosse scored well in safety tests.
It delivers on that tradition, it delivers on that promise of luxury at a good fair price point. It's tough to beat this car for the money.
The price point climbs as you add more and more options, and at the upper end it has some stiff competition from Mercedes Benz, BMW, Lexus, and others. Overall though the LaCrosse offers exceptional value, and dollar for dollar it's a car that in our books is tough to beat. And that's why it is SST Approved.
