DUKES OF HAZZARD CELEBRITY LINE UP CHANGES FOR UPCOMING FLEETWOOD COUNTRY CRUIZE IN CAR SHOW

The Fleetwood Country Cruize In is a go for 2017, but actress Catherine Bach - best know as "Daisy Duke" from the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV Series...is not coming. She was supposed to head up the show's celebrity line up, but her deal has fallen through. Instead Dukes fans from all over Canada and the United States will make their way to the Steve Plunkett Estate, many of them driving General Lee tribute cars. When they arrive they'll meet other "Dukes" celebrities including Ben Jones best known as "Cooter", Sonny Shroyer who played "Enos", Rick Hurst who played "Cletus", Don Pedro Colley who played "Sheriff Little", and General Lee Mechanic Tom Sarmento.

Show host Steve Plunkett says the last time they had "Dukes of Hazzard Celebrities" at the Fleetwood Show they had record attendance.

DOZENS OF GENERAL LEES ( AUTHENTIC AND REPLICAS )

FLEETWOOD COUNTRY CRUIZE-IN.

The Fleetwood Country Cruize-In, Canada’s largest collector car show, just keeps getting bigger and in many ways better. The focus is now mainly on the cars, with less emphasis on entertainment like the evening concerts. For true car enthusiasts the change is all part of an evolution. The event began about nine years ago when 60 collector car owners arrived at the 250-acre estate/farm of Steve Plunkett, located just south of London, Ont.

Soon people started talking about the venue. It was a great place, where people could show off their cars. Not just high end vehicles that are loaded off trailers and shown and loaded back up but are never really driven, but beautiful classics that are really driven. Cars that people enjoy and are proud to own.

THIS YEARS FLEETWOOD THEME:

50 YEARS OF CAMARO, FIREBIRD, & COUGAR

“It started with 60 cars and two cases of Coke,” Plunkett said. “The next year we had 400 cars and then it just grew out of control.”

Custom car legend Gene Winfield will be back too. WInfield is known not just for his custom cars, but his work on movie vehicles too, like the shuttle Craft Galileo in the original "Star Trek" TV series, and all the flying cars in the Ridley Scott movie "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford.

Winfield is an award winning custom car painter, who is well known in the car community throughout Canada and the United States.

"People know me when I come to Canada," Winfield told the SST Car Show during last year's Fleetwood Event. "It's great to come up to Canada and to be part of the Fleetwood event".

Linda Hurst who made a name for herself in the 60's and 70's as Miss Hurst Shifter will be back too....but the real stars will be the cars. "The Fleetwood Country Cruize-In" usually attracts over 1500 street rods, classics, and vintage collector cars. This year 50 years of Camaros, Cougars, and Firebirds will be celebrated. As always Steve Plunkett's incredible collection of Cadillacs will be on display too. It's one of the finest Cadillac collections in the world.

Over the years the Fleetwood event has generated over 1.4-million dollars for local charities.

Steve Plunkett expects this year's show to be bigger than last years because interest has blossomed early. "We've already been getting a lot of phone calls from people who want to bring their cars," said Plunkett.

As always there will be bands, vendors, and acres and acres of cool cars. This year's show Grand Marshall will be "Car Crazy TV Celebrity" Barry Meguiar.
