NAIAS Car, Truck, Utility Vehicle Winners Announced

The news is out as the North American International Auto Show in Detroit has revealed their North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the year.

Best Car - Chevrolet Bolt

Taking home the best car was the Chevrolet Bolt which is an electric vehicle that has great range for an affordable price. When the Bolt is fully charged it can reach up to 238 miles without stopping which is a distance the typical driver would not use up in a day making it very practical.

What also make this a very desirable vehicle is its high tech infotainment system, good performance and ease of operation.

Many drivers like the cost of the Bolt as it is priced modestly under $30,000 to start. This puts it in a very good price below most of its competitors.

Best Truck - Honda Ridgeline pickup

The crown for best truck goes to the Honda Ridgeline with its 280 horsepower engine and 262 lb-ft of torque that is capable to tow up to 5,000 lbs.

What made this pickup a standout to its competition is its quiet comfort. The cabin comes with leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel that is even heated. It has good creature comforts that keep you connected like its 540-watt premium audio system, HondaLink, and Apple CarPlay.

Its smooth ride and good fuel economy brought this pickup to the top.

Best Utility Vehicle - Chrysler Pacifica Minivan

The Chrysler Pacifica took the top spot in the Best Utility Vehicle department with its sleek new design and technologies that are great for the whole family.

For the kids, rear video screens that allow them to watch videos or play travel games are great for trips and keep them entertained. The adults love the vehicles performance thanks to its 3.6L PentastarTM VVT V6 engine under the hood that gives 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The Pacifica is the most powerful vehicle in its class.

The Chrysler Pacifica also broke grounds as the first ever hybrid minivan. Just on battery power alone the Pacifica can reach up to 35 miles which is enough for most typical minivan drivers. When the charge is combined with a full tank of gas it estimates to get up to a total driving range of over 850 kilometres.

Points count: Chevrolet Bolt (364), Honda Ridgeline (305), Chrysler Pacifica (300).

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt electric car, Honda Ridgeline pickup and Chrysler Pacifica minivan are the respective winners in each of their class.
