Something new is coming to the Dodge Challenger and that comes in the form of adding all-wheel drive. The muscle car has never had all-wheel drive so it is a bit unconventional and the fact that the new Challenger will be adding it changes things in a big way.
The vehicle is called the "Challenger GT" and will be coming out this winter for a starting price of $34,490. The AWD system is being acquired from the Charger so when driving in regular conditions, the front axle disengages and full torque goes to the back wheels. This has it working as a rear-wheel drive vehicle but when more traction is needed it goes back to being all-wheel drive automatically.
Powering this vehicle is a Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 with 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission comes with the GT as it has been stated no all-wheel drive Challenger will have manual transmission or V8 offered.
Incase you want a bit more luxury in your Challenger GT then an interior package is offered for $995 that includes a performance steering wheel, Alcantara suede seats, Nappa leather, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system and more.
At the Detroit Auto Show in January is where the Dodge Challenger GT will be on display for all eyes to see.
