September 9, 2016

The Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio has claimed the top spot for the world's fastest production sedan. With a twin-turbo, 2.9-litre V6 engine pumping out 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, it was obvious the vehicle was going to be fast. But how fast can it actually go?

Using a manual transmission, the Quadrifoglio took to the Nurburgring Nordshcleife motorsports complex and sped its way to an impressive 7 minutes and 39 seconds time. Dubbing it the fastest production sedan for the time being but it didn't last as the new 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo took the title away as the German vehicle finished with a lap time of 7 minutes and 38 seconds.

In order for the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio to get the title back they had to switch for an automatic transmission. The transmission can shift in an impressive 150 milliseconds. The switch worked out as when taking to the track again the Italian car managed to get a record best 7 minutes and 32 seconds taking back the lucrative title.
