Today, Acura unveiled the track version of the already exciting NSX.
Say ¨Hello¨ to the NSX GT3. This track car is a bare bones performance beast. As you might expect there is ample use of lightweight carbon fibre in the body.
The hybrid powertrain used in the road car is gone. However the track car still uses the same basic engine as the road version, a 3.5 litre V6 with twin turbos. The body has been modified to include a large rear wing, underbody diffuser and larger hood vents which a totally functional and help to cool the engine at speed.
Of course the engine has been beefed up a bit, but it still uses the same block, heads, and even the same pistons and dry sump lubrication system. The transmission has been replaced though. Instead of the nine speed road version, the track car gets a six-speed sequential gearbox.
The GT3 track car will be built at the same factory as the the road version of the NSX, in Ohio, with final performance upgrades performed by Hondaś performance division in Santa Clarita California.
